USA Baseball announces 14U, 16U and 18U National Team Trial rosters

DURHAM, N.C. -- Over the course of the past week, USA Baseball has announced the trials rosters for its 14U, 16U and 18U National Teams.


18U National Team Trials

 

USA Baseball has announced the names of the 36 players who have received invitations to the 2010 18U National Team Trials, scheduled to be held June 28-July 3 in Cary, N.C. at the USA Baseball National Training Complex (NTC).

 

The 18U Trials roster was selected following the 2010 Tournament of Stars presented by Major League Baseball, which also took place at the NTC. The event annually serves as the primary selection vehicle for the 18U National Team. Four alternates were also named to the trials roster.

At the conclusion of trials, 20 players will be selected to the 2010 USA Baseball 18U National Team, which will compete in the 2010 IBAF "AAA" (18U) World Junior Championships in Thunder Bay, Canada, from July 23-Aug. 1. The team will be announced on www.USABaseball.com at the completion of the 18U Trials.

 

Following the trials and training period in Cary and prior to the World Championships, the 18U Team will travel to New York City for five exhibitions against the Greater N.Y. Alliance All-Stars. From there, the team will play nine exhibition games in Minnesota against area all-star teams and international opponents.

16U National Team Trials

 

USA Baseball has announced 39 of 40 invitations to the 2010 16U National Team Trials, scheduled to be held Sept. 25-Oct. 6 in The Woodlands and Houston, Texas.

 

The 16U Trials will consist of 31 players selected from the 2010 16U Championships -- 17 from the East and 14 from the West -- which were recently held in Fla. and Ariz., and eight players chosen from the 2009 National Team Identification Series (NTIS) which took place in Cary, N.C. at the USA Baseball National Training Complex last fall. One additional player will be named to the trials prior to its start.

 

Twenty players will be selected to the 2010 USA Baseball 16U National Team, which will compete at the COPABE Pan Am 'AA' 16U Championships in Culiacan, Mexico from Oct. 8-17. The team will be announced on www.USABaseball.com after the completion of the 16U Trials.

The club will train primarily at College Park High School in The Woodlands, Texas prior to departing for Mexico, except on Sept. 28 when the Houston Astros will host a 16U trials session at Minute Maid Park.

14U National Team Trials


USA Baseball announced its 40-player roster this week for the 14U National Team Trials scheduled to be held July 13-17 at the National Training Complex in Cary, N.C.

 

The 14U Trials will consist of 23 players selected from the 2009 National Team Identification Series (NTIS) and 17 chosen after the 2010 14U Championships, which were recently held in Fort Myers, Fla., and Glendale, Surprise and Peoria, Ariz.

 

Eighteen players will be selected to the 2010 USA Baseball 14U National Team, which will compete at the COPABE Pan Am 'A' 14U Championships in Managua, Nicaragua from July 23-Aug. 1. The team will be announced on usabaseball.com after the completion of the 14U Trials.

The club will train at the National Training Complex July 18-20 prior to departing for Managua.
