COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (March 22, 2010) B  Patric Young, a 6-9 forward out of Providence H.S. in Jacksonville, Fla., has been named the 10th and final member of the 2010 USA Junior National Select Team, USA Basketball today announced. Young and his U.S. teammates will square off against the World Select Team in the 13th annual Nike Hoop Summit at 7:00 p.m. (PDT) on Saturday, April 10 at the Rose Garden in Portland, Ore.

With eight points, 13 rebounds and seven blocked shots, Young helped lead Providence to a 63-46 win over Tampa Prep on March 6 to capture the Florida 2A state championship and a 31-1 overall record. He averaged 13.0 points, 14.0 rebounds,
3.0 assists and 4.0 blocked per game in 2009-10.

“Anytime you get to represent your country you should be honored and make sure that you are playing for the right reasons,” Young said. “It’s a blessing that I can do what I am doing now.

“It didn’t register in the beginning how exciting this was because I didn’t know how big of an accomplishment it was until I talked to my AAU coach,” Young continued. “He told me how big of a deal it was and how it was different from the McDonald’s game. It’s not an all-star event.”

The Nike Hoop Summit is the country's premier annual basketball game for high-school age boys and features America's elite, young athletes against a World Select Team comprised of top international players 19-years-old or younger.

Tickets are now on sale, with reserved courtside seats priced $25 and $50 and all other general admission tickets $10. Tickets can be purchased through the Rose Quarter Ticket Office, by calling 877-789-ROSE (7673) or by visiting www.rosequarter.com.

“I think that the 10-man squad that we have is as talented and balanced as it possibly could be in the United States,” said USA head coach Bob Cimmino (Mount Vernon H.S., N.Y.). “I look forward to seeing if we can get the chemistry to work.

“It will be like what John Wooden used to do – he used to make sure that his team was ready as opposed to scouting a lot,” Cimmino continued. “So, since we don’t have the option of scouting a lot, we are going to make sure that our squad is ready for whatever the World Team can bring.”

In addition to Young, the USA roster features Harrison Barnes (Ames H.S. / Ames, Iowa); Will Barton (Brewster Academy / Baltimore, Md.); Reggie Bullock (Kinston H.S. / Kinston, N.C.); Tobias Harris (Half Hollow Hills West H.S. / Brookville, N.Y.); Kyrie Irving (St. Patrick H.S. / Elizabeth, N.J.); Terrence Jones (Jefferson H.S. / Portland, Ore.); Brandon Knight (Pine Crest H.S. / Lauderdale, Fla.); Kendall Marshall (Bishop O’Connell H.S. / Arlington, Va.); and Jared Sullinger (Northland H.S. / Columbus, Ohio).

Rich Gray (St. Louis Eagles AAU, Mo.) will serve as the USA assistant coach.

Players and coaches for the 2010 USA Junior National Select Team are selected by the USA Basketball Men’s Developmental National Team Committee, chaired in a non-voting position by Sean Ford, the USA Basketball Men’s National Team Director. The committee also includes AAU appointees Ron Crawford  and Boo Williams, National Federation of High School appointees Eric Flannery and John Olive and athlete representative Kermit Holmes (1999 USA Pan American Games Team).
